Hi, Iām Terra.
Born and raised in the PNW, I was voted "Best Listener" by my 8th grade classmates who, it turns out, were quite the little visionaries!
I majored in Psychology at the University of Portland before moving to Colorado to explore the mountains and my young adult self. It was here that I discovered the gritty beauty of clinical social work. Much to my family's relief, the greenery of Oregon and the social climate of the West Coast called me home and, in 2003, I obtained my graduate degree in social work (MSW) from Portland State University. I am licensed by both the Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers and the Washington State Department of Health.
My post-graduate training has focused on depth-oriented psychotherapy with studies in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am certified in Hatha and Yin yoga with training in trauma-informed movement. I bring mindfulness and body-based awareness into nearly every session, trusting and honoring our somatic wisdom.
I am diligent in my work to be trauma-responsive, gender and identity-affirming, and anti-racist. I interrogate my own biases and participate monthly in individual and group consultation to ensure my work is consistent with the values I hold as a person and as a professional social worker.
Our connections to animals can be some of the richest and most rewarding relationships of our lives. Spending time outside with my dog Hazel is one of my favorite ways to unwind, explore and feel centered during times of upheaval.
